Stunguns and Tasers are not toys

This stungun is for self-protection only

Thanks to Hollywood and backyard stunt artists, protective stun devices (stungun) and high powered tazer stun guns (tasers) are often viewed as toys. This however, is not the case. Although stunguns and tasers are produced for non-lethal protection, when used in conjunction with certain drugs or stimulants, being tasered can have deadly effects. Take a look at this statement from CBS news: “In Indiana, inmate James Borden was stunned six times by an officer, then died on the jailhouse floor. Borden was also high on drugs, and again his family blames overuse of the TASER. “They juiced him to death,” charges Steve Borden, James’ brother.”

And from The AP: “The San Diego County coroner ruled Wednesday that the death of a Mexican migrant at the U.S. border was a homicide, five days after an American immigration officer shot him with a stun gun. The cause of death was determined to be a heart attack, with methamphetamine abuse and hypertension listed as contributing factors.”

In both cases, young, able men were killed from being tasered aggressively. While we support the use of stunguns and tasers for self protection against violent aggressors, we do not support the use of tasers or stunguns for making “funny” Youtube videos or to prove someone’s “toughness.” In this manner, we recommend in all cases that tasers and stunguns be treated as weapons with detrimental effects if used unwisely- just like a handgun. Being tasered with a stungun or taser gun can lead to death if the victim has abused meth or another “upper” stimulant. They are not toys and should only be used as security and self-protection devices. For more information on purchasing a stungun or taser gun please visit our site a www.stungunprotection.com

Protect Youself on Campus

March 23, 2010

The recent murders of Amber Dubois and Chelsea King have left a stain on our community and remind us of our failures to protect ourselves in a fallen and dark world.  Amber was on her way to school and Chelsea was taken while out on a run. Both girls were alone, on school activities, and neither had any instrument with which to protect themselves.  Although our hearts and prayers are dedicated to their families, we must not ignore the lesson of self protection that these tragic murders are screaming to teach us.   If either girl had carried a self protection device or an instrument of self defense- like a stun gun or taser- they perhaps may be home right now with their families enjoying another laugh, another home-cooked meal, another breath.  Instead, we are left to mourn their absence wondering “what-if.”

What if they had been armed with a stun gun or taser device?  What if both girls had a concealed non-lethal weapon that they had control over and the skills to use effectively?  What if rather than wonder “whodunnit” we had a shocked and criminal-minded sexual predator in police custody and off the street waiting to attack again?  These questions can either be asked again of they can be answered now, swiftly and with determination by you right now deciding that you and your family will not be victims.

Stun guns are non-lethal, easy- to- use, self-protection devices that require no special training, licensing, or physical ability.  Anybody can use one without causing harm to themselves.  This is not the case for pepper spray.  Spray devices are messy and affect the attacker and the victim.  Similarly, neither has great control over who is more effective in the attack- pepper spray will blind both parties and the stronger will with the stronger arms will prevail.  This is not the case with stun guns.  A stun gun is designed with a safety switch to protect against self-infliction.  Furthermore, stun guns include a wrist-strap to avoid a changing of hands and will not work if the trigger is released.  This means that when aimed and directed at an attacker, the stun gun cannot affect the user.   Stun guns are also available in a variety of sizes, voltages, and colors for easy concealment and quick-draw efficacy.  Ranging in styles, the non-lethal stun devices will leave a potential-captor helpless and immobile by simply touching the charged metal receptors of the device to the skin.  A 10-second delivery of 10,000 volts could stop a mule horse and your daughter can carry a stun gun shaped like a cell phone, a pen, or even a stun baton.

Tasers are even more effective in that they work from over 15 feet away while a stun gun must be used at close range.  Tasers function more like a traditional handgun in that they shoot two electrically charged darts from the hand-held unit capable of penetrating several layers of clothing.  Upon reaching the skin of the attacker, the darts send a blast of electricity to the central nervous system capable of immobilizing an attacker faster than a 9mm handgun.  The darts then detach from the unit and enable the taser to be used as a traditional stun gun.  In this manner, the non-lethal self-protection device is multi-functional.  However, we never recommend that a potential victim wait around long enough to use it as such.  When the attacker is down, run.  Taser International feels so strongly about this point they will even replace the taser if used to stop an attack and left with the attacker.

We live in society that preaches lies from the rooftops.  From the no-gun radicals in Hollywood and the Government to the misinformed “all we need is love” crowd so familiar to academia and pop-culture activism, there is nothing more true than what we hear in the Bible, “the heart of man is deceitful above all things and desperately wicked (Jeremiah 17:9).  In knowing this you must ask yourself, “what if it was my child?”  Would you be suffice to say that all Amber needed “was love” or that if Chelsea had simply explained the economics of a Utopian weapon-free society that their captors would have rejected their sexual impulses to inflict their wills upon them? No.  They needed to be armed and accompanied.

How to buy a stun gun or tazer gun

How to Buy a Stun Gun or Tazer Gun

Stun Guns and Tazer Guns are high voltage self defense weapons designed to thwart attackers.  Although not typically deadly, contact with a charged stun gun or tazer dart delivers an electric charge to the central nervous system capable of incapacitating any attacker faster than a 9 mm handgun. They are certainly not toys and deserve the same respect as a traditional firearms although handling of a stun gun or tazer requires little to no training and can be mastered by anyone.  Before purchasing a stun gun or tazer gun it is important to know the differences between the two as well as the different categories of each.  This article will discuss the basic nature of stun guns and tazer guns as well as provide additional information on finding the right stun device for you.

Stun guns are handheld devices that come in a variety of shapes and sizes. Although most stun guns are battery operated, some do come with a charger and charging stand.  Stun guns are made with a carrying handle on one end with a hand-strap.  The strap should always be worn to prevent the gun from being taken away by the attacker.  Opposite the handle are 2 metal pieces in between which the electric power flows.  This end should always point toward the attacker and most stun guns (while not flawless) make it nearly impossible to stun the holder.  Each stun gun has its own stun capacity as identified by the voltage.  Stun gun capacity can range from 8,000 to 1,000,000 volts where the higher voltage refers to a more powerful and more effective stun gun.  Where a larger attacker may need prolonged contact with a low-voltage stun gun, a higher capacity stun gun will more likely incapacitate the attacker much faster.  We always recommend buying the highest voltage stun gun available.  Most stun guns also have a safety switch which, like a handgun, will disable the stun gun from working until the switch is turned off.  The switch is usually found on the stun guns handle and should be turned off whenever the owner is in a safe place.  When entering dangerous territory (parks, dimly lit areas, parking lots, etc.) the safety switch should be turned on immediately and the gun placed in the owners hand prepared to strike until once again in safe territory.

A stun gun is designed for close contact use and the metal pieces must make contact with an attackers skin in order to be effective.  While we always recommend holding the stun gun to the attackers skin until the attacker is down, a higher voltage gun may be effective in 15-20 seconds of contact.  When selecting a stun gun for personal use it is essential to determine in what context the gun will be used. Joggers for example would need to select a stun gun that fits easy on a waist belt or in a pack while a business woman may prefer something smaller and more discreet.  While stun guns come in a variety of shapes and sizes, the prefered usage of the stun gun is important to consider.  We provide stun guns shaped as cell phones, flashlights, batons, pagers, and more.  These guns are available in a variety of colors including blue, black, red, and pink.  There is really no limit to the variety in which a stun gun is available however it is important to recognize that some of these designs are novelty- made for show-and-tell and not for self preservation.  At Stun Gun Protection we only sell self-defense products.  We do not sell stun toys.  As such, we recommend the 4-in-1 stun gun for its safety features and high efficacy.  With over 1,000,000 volts, a built in flashlight and alarm, safety strap, and included carrying case, it is an incredible buy at around $70.

Tazer guns are different as they are designed for use up to 15 feet away from an attacker.  Originally designed by Taser International,  the tazer gun (spelled differently to avoid legal entanglements) shoots 2 charged darts attached to a 15 foot wire from its barrel capable of penetrating 2 layers of clothing.  Once fired, the tazer gun delivers a walloping blow of electricity capable of taking down any attacker faster than a 9 mm handgun.  Upon the ejection of the darts, the tazer gun will function as a regular stun gun until a new cartridge with new darts are added.  However, it is highly recommended that upon use of the taser gun that  the user release the darts, leave the attacker, and GET HELP IMMEDIATELY.  There is no need to hover around your attacker.  In light of this recommendation, Taser International has a guarantee in place assuring that if used, your tazer gun will be replaced if lost or damaged in the event of an attack. In order to utilize this guarantee you must file a police report.

The tazer gun is a more comprehensive self-defense device than is the stun gun.  As such, the retail cost of a tazer gun can exceed $250.00 and is available in a variety of styles and colors including pink, leopard, desert camouflage, and black.  All tazers come with an instructional video and information regarding tazer gun clubs around the United States as well as a leather carrying case.  Some of our tazer guns include a laser sight and a target board for practice.  Additional accessories are available including an mp3 carrying case with headphones and switchable color faces for a new look everyday.
